An old chapel near to the most beautiful village preferred by the French in the midst of a village and not far from the lateral canal of the Loire.
On the edge of the lateral canal of the Loire, in a village of extremely active wine-growers, surrounded by the Côteaux-du-Giennois, Sancerre and Pouilly-sur-Loire vineyards. Not far from an area with Natura 2000 classification intended to protect precious ecosystems. The village is reached via the N7. Paris, via the A77 motorway, is some 180 km away (160 of which are on the motorway). A train station, 5 minutes away, has regular services to Paris-Bercy. All shops, brasseries, restaurants and administrative offices are nearby. A weekly market, with its local produce including "Crottin de Chavignol" cheese, is held in the immediate vicinity.
This old chapel, near to a small marina, is in a village, constructed between the 11th and 16th centuries, which still has its narrow streets, bordered by buildings with tall gables, turrets and half-timbering. The village was lived in by local nobility. The wine-growers' houses are robust buildings, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries with their semi-underground cellar and their outside stone stairway.
The main entrance to this chapel is reached from the street via double arched wooden gates, above which can be seen two former trilobal openings. The second entrance is via a door on one side.
The floor surface area of the chapel is approx. 29 m² and a second level of the same surface area awaits creation. Its floor consists of a concrete screed, its walls feature exposed bricks and quarry stone blocks. The roofing framework, in a good state of repair, is approx. 11 m high.
