The more lively urban part houses the Schauspielhaus theatre. The Musikzentrum Bochum is the Bochum Symphoniker's concert hall and also features a hall for the municipal music school. The site of the former Prinz Regent coal mine now enjoys varied uses: as well as new industry, the Prinz Regent theatre and a nightclub can also be found there.
