A 22-hectare lake halfway between Rennes and Angers, for fishing and hunting.
The lake is located in the Pays de la Loire Region, in the Maine-et-Loire area, near to a medieval town at the gateway to the former province of Anjou. The town boasts a hotel, holiday cottages and bed et breakfasts, as well as all the shops you will need for daily life. Châteaubriant is 20 minutes away, Angers and its high-speed rail TGV station is 50 minutes away, Laval and Rennes are both 55 minutes away and Nantes is 1 hour 10 minutes away by car.
At its largest, this 1-kilometre-long lake is 300 metres wide and contains a volume of approximately 350,00 m³. A river runs in and out of the lake and at its northwest tip there is a reeded area. Thanks to an electrically powered sluice gate, the water level can be lowered or raised. It is also used to empty the lake each year for maintenance to take place, a time at which the fish are sold. As a result, the lake is well suited for freshwater fish farming.
