In the Centre-Val de Loire region and in the department of Loir-et-Cher, the property is set back from a village in the Bassin d'Ozain, 4 km from the banks of the Loire and 10 minutes from a train station. Paris is 200 km away.
Description Just off a municipal road, a driveway lined with oak trees leads through meadows. It goes 250 m further on to the house, which appears at the bend in the road. Built at the end of the 19th century, this former farmhouse once belonged to a neighbouring château. The two main buildings, linked by a barn, extend over a length of more than 50 m. The main entrances are to the north-east, where there is a gravelled parking area. At the north-western end, the main house is flanked by a tower measuring approximately 4 m in diameter. A weather vane is on top of the rounded roof, slightly above the ridge of the house. A reminder of the Egyptian passion of the former occupants, the triangular dormers with their semi-circular windows evoke the eye of Osiris. The western corner links the tower to an extension of the farmhouse. In the centre there is a French window surmounted by a seated dormer with a bull's eye. The three roof slopes of the extension are attached to the top of the farmhouse wall. The whole property is covered in local tiles, which need to be renovated for the second house. In line with the extension, a stone wall frames a terrace, the boundary of which is marked by two small rectangular pools of water. This is followed by a small outbuilding with large windows, which could be converted into a conservatory or used as storage for the summer furniture. To the rear of the property, an English-style garden has been laid out opposite the main house. An Italian-style garden faces the other house. Several ponds have been dug around.
The main house
The ground floor
The entrance opens directly into a kitchen with a terracotta tiled floor. The ceiling is painted white and the exposed beams are in their original colour. A piano is topped by the flue of an old fireplace. The fully-equipped kitchen gives access to a utility room on one side and to the living room opposite via a door. The utility has a walk-through layout and plenty of storage space. This is followed by a small hallway leading to the tower and the outside. The circular space leads to a staircase and a corridor, which leads to a living room and a small space leading to a bathroom with a toilet, as well as a bedroom. The living room has a terracotta floor and exposed beams. A marble fireplace is set against a wall and there are two windows. A door leads to a bedroom with a shower room. The third door from the living room leads into the kitchen.
The upstairs
A mezzanine floor includes storage cupboards. The first floor has four bedrooms and a bathroom with a toilet. Part of the attic is currently being converted.The second houseIts architecture is very similar to that of the first. It has retained more of its authentic look. To the south-east, a patio faces a pond.
The ground floor
It can be accessed via four different entrances. The main entrance is to the south-east and opens onto a small hallway. A second door leads directly into a fitted kitchen. The floor is terracotta and the beams are exposed. At the far end of the kitchen, a door leads to the main entrance hall. The third access is via the south-east-facing patio and leads onto a lounge. The last entrance is through a door to the north-west, which is at right angles to the barn that separates the two houses. The entrance opens onto a hallway that extends into a lounge.
