Lage
Potsdam, the cultural city with around 185,000 inhabitants and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers a spectacular baroque city center, excellent residential areas and a city center with attractive shopping and strolling opportunities. Those seeking relaxation will find plenty of invitingly beautiful places to rest and unwind. This is because 2/3 of Potsdam consists of forests and water, and this and the proximity to the city offer above-average leisure opportunities.
All in all, you will find an excellent combination of a quiet and green living environment in an upmarket location and a very good infrastructure and proximity to the city center. A city with an almost unique set-up that is unparalleled anywhere in the country. Bornstedt, a district of Potsdam since 1935, forms the back wall of Sanssouci, is surrounded by the world-famous Potsdam cultural landscape, Havel lakes and small forests and offers well-known Potsdam sights and excursion destinations. The Bornstedt Crown Estate with its manor house, the famous Bornstedt cemetery with its basilica, the Volkspark and the biosphere are just a few of the sights worth mentioning here. In this unique environment, a Potsdam district has been created for around 14,500 residents with 5,000 jobs.
The location is idyllic and very green with mature trees. The excellent location means that schools, shopping facilities, bus and streetcar stops are all less than five minutes' walk away. Potsdam's pedestrian zone, with all its promenades, restaurants, bars and shopping opportunities, can be reached through Sanssouci Park in just 10 minutes by bike and 20 minutes on foot.
The neighboring capital city of Berlin can be reached by public transport as well as the Avus and the Berlin ring road (A100/A115). For example, you can be in Charlottenburg on the Ku'damm in around 35 minutes. Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER) is also just 45 minutes away.
